After opening the year with her new EP “While I Shoot From My Fortress of Delusions” released in January, Emma finds herself closing it with... a Christmas single ! And it’s ticking all the boxes of the genre with french horns, bourbon on sale, lively bells and, of course : Emma’s “cast out of heaven” voice.
She explains the behind-the-scene of ‘Without You (Christmas in East Hollywood)’ :
“I was residing in East Hollywood during Christmas last year, and most of my people were out of town, back home celebrating with their families so for me it felt a little ghost town like. I was alone in my house and on Christmas Eve’s day I wrote this song while waiting for a friend to pick me up to take me out to have margaritas and mexican food.
I recorded the song with Ida (bassplayer) and my band during lockdown when I was back in Copenhagen. I remember thinking during that spring of hell that it was nice to work on a Christmas song because at that time this pandemic would finally be over...
Little did we know, huh?”
In between Emma has been busy recording with her new project Evil House Party, shared with Jacob Formann (Communions/Mini Esco), the dynamic duo released their successful debut single ‘Wicked’ during the summer. She also featured on Darcy Baylis latest single ‘No Other Dream’. And she recently signed with not one but two booking agencies : Swamp Booking (Europe) and Over Run (North & South America), preparing for the world after you-know-what.
